Sporadic firing of the bird cannons in late summer and fall are part of the unique culture of a grape growing region. As a child, I thought it probably sent the bears running as well, so I didn’t mind the massive bangs shaking the air.

In later years it gave me a secret smirk when new neighbors to the estate winery I was working at would come stomping into the elegant wine shop, demanding of anyone and everyone that “that bloody noise had to stop”.

With over 20 years experience in Canada and abroad in Cultural Tourism and Culinary Tourism, I’ve observed that neighborhoods surrounding these successful industries both reap the benefits and suffer the growing pains. I’m proud that the Okanagan is notable for holding its ‘small farming community’ identity while creating wines of superb quality.

We’ve drawn international wine-making expertise from Australia, Germany, South Africa and the United States. These talented people share our commitment to create the best in our wines, and in ourselves.

I am honoured to have participated in the history and growth of a variety of award-winning wineries, commercial and estate, as well as the British Columbia Wine Museum.

I’m passionate about this dynamic industry. What Wine Goes with Buffalo delivers the Wine Education seminars where I can share my excitement with everyone.
